The following original Dr BLT song, Black Santa, which features African American artist Michael C., as an African-American male seeking employment as Santa Claus, in a duet dialogue with yours truly as the department store hiring representative breaks two unwritten cultural rules (black men are not supposed to be Santa, and, unless you're Eminem, white men are not supposed to even attempt to rap.
As a would-be mental heath professional, this song will raise questions that will challenge you and force you to come to terms with your own biases. What is the problem? Who is the problem. Is this a problem that can be neatly handled via a particular personality theory or theoretical orientation? Is there a macro theory that goes beyond a single therapist working face-to-face with an individual patient. If there is, find it, and create visual images that convey such an approach as it applies to the cross-cultural issues introduced in the song.
